Home Watch scheme seeks new members

Police in Wilmslow are urging members of the public to get involved in the Home Watch scheme and help make their community safer.

The initiative aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by sharing useful information between local people, the police and other agencies.

There are around 200 households signed up to the scheme at present and officers are looking to increase this number.

PCSO Sarah Stanley of Wilmslow Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: "Home Watch is a fantastic idea as it allows the local community to take control of their neighbourhood and the potential issues they may have.

"As we all know, police cannot be everywhere at one time so the more help we can get, the better chances we have of catching criminals in the act."

Anyone interested in joining or setting up a Home Watch scheme should contact PCSO Sarah Stanley on 0845 458 6374.
